Another great football Sunday was coming up at Jens Jessensvej and the departement of CBS Sport Football had no less than 5 matches. Even though it was early, the side-line was full of anxious supporters who all had heard of the great performance last weekend. Learning from the first half against Østerbro, Coach Staalager decided to play with two defensive midfielders in order to control the balance between offense and defense.
CBS Sport were off to a really bad start as Florian early on was booked for a questionable foul – harsh decision by the referee. However, CBS Sport attempted to maintain control but short after going one man down Bk. Stefan took the lead.
A corner was only half cleared and a cross from the right side ended up in the back of the area where the Stefan player took a shot which went straight over the CBS Sport keeper and in to the goal.
Not long after the referee decided to book a Stefan player and the teams were even numbers. CBS Sport took advantage and equalised soon after.
Troels received a pass from Wasi outside the opponent’s area and Troels made a dribble between the approaching keeper and defender and was able to tap the ball into the empty goal.
It’s important to mention that CBS Sport had the wind in their back during the first half. This factor meant that CBS Sport played a direct – or as some might say, Norwegian style of playing.
However, this style proved very effective and soon after the equaliser, Magee headed a beautiful cross from Wasi into the back of the net. Another great comeback by the CBS Sport boys, but in football there is no time to rest.
Towards the end of the half the referee awarded Bk. Stefan a free-kick on the edge of the area, as Teis failed to let go of the ball when kicking it long. The finish from Bk. Stefan came straight at the CBS Sport keeper who was unfortunately unable to hold on to the ball and the ball bounced onto the thigh of a Stefan player and into the goal.
The surprising equaliser did not shock CBS Sport as Florian decided to go for goal on the kick-off. With the strong tailwind the ball flew over the keeper and into the back of the net – a beautiful strike from the middle of the field and an obvious contender for goal of the year.
First half finished with CBS Sport in control and the 3-2 lead was well-deserved and with a bit of coolness Troels and Florian could’ve scored one more goal each.
In order to extend the lead Coach Thomas decided to place Sophus behind Magee as an extra target for the crosses from both sides. Finn replaced Sophus in central defence.
Second half was kicked off but for most of the time it was all about defending the long passes from Bk. Stefan. However, this primitive approach never became successful and the few times Stefan were able to beat the CBS Sport defenders, Teis was ready to pick up the ball.
CBS Sport were in control throughout the half and with a mixture of controlling short passing and long balls onto the wingers, CBS Sport kept creating great scoring chances. However it took about 35 minutes of second half before Magnus headed a corner from the left side into the goal.
Up by two CBS Sport seemed certain of the victory and Bk. Stefan seemed to have lost all hope. Not long after, Wasi went down the right side and sent a cross in front of goal where an unfortunate defender sent the ball into his own goal.
As if 5-2 was not enough, Magee decided to work his magic just before the final whistle, when he beat the goalkeeper with a well-placed right footed shot from inside the six yard box.
The 6-2 result was a fair indicator of what went on inside the lines. And if the referee had not decided to whistle against CBS Sport for 70 minutes of the match, the number of CBS Sport goals might have been even bigger.
The shocker of the day came as the strong Norwegian defender Magnus was voted Man of the Match, closely followed by Magee.
With the second win in two games CBS Sport Football Men Team 2 are top of the series. On Sunday the 28th the fight for promotion continues when FC Culpa is visited in Valby.
