The match

Prior to the match, warm up had been very focused on the provided ball from FA København; a unfamiliar Puma soccer ball, that weighed close to nothing and thereby easily took unpredictable turns in the wind. This also meant that Coach Jeppe emphatized that we needed to focus on playing the ball in the feets when building up and shoot on the distance!

As the match started, CBS Sport soon got their feet on the ball and Laura decided to try out that “shooting on the distance” and slammed the ball into the corner of the goal. One minute in and 1-0 for CBS Sport!

CBS Sport’s play was looking just as perfect as the prior matches, but then the ball passes started getting too far from the team mates and FA København could more often steal the ball. This resulted in a play up the side line, where Birgitte ran out to “clean up”, but the ball ended by the back line, where the FA København striker decided to finish short – unexpected for Cecilie who was caught on her heels, looking aweful. 1-1.

Five minutes later, CBS Sport had gotten a corner, which Caroline executed beautifully for Malle to finish off on an even more beautiful header! 2-2! Unfortunately FA København turned to whole thing around within minutes, as the next attack was allowed to make a pass in front of goal where the FA København player with Cirkeline on he tail, could quite easily pass Cecilie, who again wasn’t at her best.

In second half, FA København looked like they were getting a bit tired. This should make it easier for CBS Sport to pass it around, but it just seemed like the team lacked 10% of their usual focus, meaning that the defense had to hit the breaks a couple of times. With about 30 minutes left of second half, Kiri made a great goal on a pass from Mia, meaning a 3-2 lead and almost being able to touch the victory..

Fortunately the rest of the match ended without anymore goals. Cecilie managed to get a bit harshly run over, head first, by a FA København player (who must’ve been a frustrated one, since she didn’t even bother to stop), but after seeing stars and moons on the back line, she managed to continue.

The aftermath

Coach Jeppe emphatized afterwards, that, yes, it was a crappy match and often unpleasant football to watch – but we fought our way to the three points, and THAT’S what matters!
