Futsal!

Both the Men’s team and the Women’s team from CBS Sport Football is playing futsal this winter.

The tournament

CBS Sport Football Women was contacted in 2010 by KBU and offered to start in the women’s futsal tournament free of charge, as they were hoping to get more knowledge about the sport and more teams to participate. Therefore the team started in the futsal tournament in the winter 2010/2011 and advanced from the qualifying series to Serie 1, where they’re also playing this winter.

CBS Sport Football Men enrolled for the first time this winter in Serie 2 and is at the moment ranked no. 6 out of 9.

In KBU the women’s futsal tournament is divided into Serie 2, Serie 1 and the Københavnsserie – as stated above CBS Sport Football Women is playing in Serie 1. The men’s futsal tournament is also divided into Serie 2, Serie 1 and Københavnsserie. As CBS Sport Football Men enrolled their team this winter, they of course started in Serie 2.

What is futsal?

Futsal is a variant of association football that is played on a smaller pitch and mainly played indoors. Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. In the Danish regulations you are allowed to have 7 substitutes and unlimited substitutions during the match is permitted. The match is played on a hard court surface delimited by lines; no walls or boards are used. Futsal is also played with a smaller ball with less bounce than a regular football. The surface, ball and rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces.
