With the National Rugby Team at Benidorm 7s!
After replacing an injured player at the European Cup in Norway in June 2014, we where thrilled to see CBS Sport Rugby’s Marianne Qvistgaard Hansen yet again being picked for the national team in May when they went to Benidorm in Alicante, Spain.
This is what Marianne reported back to us from her trip:
The women’s national team took a trip down to Alicante the 22-24th of May to participate in the Benidorm 7’s tournament.
The tournament had a few national teams participating such as Russia and Chile for the men’s side but also club teams from Venezuela, Kazakhstan and other European countries. There were only three other female teams besides Denmark, the national team from Andorra and two Spanish club teams.
The tournament went really well for Denmark. We won all our 5 games with a total score of 139-7 and furthermore Danish Marlene L. Jakobsen won the title of being the most valuable player of the entire tournament (men and women).
Benidorm 7’s was part of the national team’s final preparation before the team travels to Croatia on the 20th of June for the European Cup. If Denmark wins in Zagreb they will make another trip in July to Portugal to compete for qualification to the Olympics.
It was a worthwhile experience with an amazing team, and we had a really fun weekend doing what we love!
