2014 flashbacks
Last year we brought to you, some of the flashbacks of 2013.. It takes ages to compile – but for you, it is worth it!
So here comes..
2014 started off with CBS Sport hiring a new administrative employee, as former employee Tina Oksen got a new job at CBS HR – the new employee was Linda Boldt who has done a tremendous good job ever since she joined us at CBS Sport. We hope for many seasons together – both as employee and player at the basketball team. Also – true to tradition – the CBS Sport Day was held in the beginning of February. More than a hundred people made their way to the volunteers from CBS Sport who was ready to tell all about their sports, events and offers from CBS Sport.
A new tradition: Friday Bar
On the 7th of February a new tradition was started. CBS Sport hosted a Friday Bar for all members to join. With a fussball table as well as a ping-pong table in the Club Room, the stage was set for a good night in good surroundings. It was such a big succes that it was repeated both the 9th of May and again as a season start bar on the 5th of September.
We believe it to be a good tradition and another possibility to meet up with the other CBS Sport’ers from the other sports departments, besides the legendary CBS Sport Summer Party and CBS Sport Christmas Party, and we expect it to continue for many seasons to come.
CBS Sport Dodgeball
Winners of the Dodgeball Tournament
It is always hard to follow up a succes, but nonetheless, CBS Sport was eager to host the CBS Sport Dodgeball Tournament for the second time!
Just like last year, it went down inside Porcelænshaven and with almost 300 students present divided into 32 teams and several cheering fans it was a great succes!
Besides the usual tournament, the event coordinators even found time for a show match between the tournament sponsor E.ON and the Board.. A match that E.ON came out victorious from.
Last year’s champions were confident enough to name their team “Defending Champions” and as they took down The Purple Cobras in the final, it was indeed a suitable name! CBS Observer brought a great article and video, which can be seen here and all the cool photos from the day can be found here.
A new board
At the Annual General Meeting, the 2nd of April a new board was elected and never before had there been so many interested for a seat at the CBS Sport Board. After hearing motivational speeches from all the candidates, the members present used their ballots to find the new members of the board. Lastly Chairman Stine thanked the retirering board and sports responsible with some wine and hugs. Read more about the AGM here.
In June, the new elected CBS Sport Board decided to do a sporty teambulding event, so they biked to Amager to do some paintballin’. The paintball battle ended with very little clothes, but despite that the board got to know each other better.
Special Lecture
On Wednesday the 9th of April, CBS Sport and Danske Bank invited all interested to a Special Lecture at CBS about Reputation Recovery. The lecture gave rare insigths into Danske Bank’s way of getting past being one of the most criticized banks. A truly interesting lecture and we look forward to bring you another Special Lecture in 2015. See a few pictures from the event here.
Campus Relay
On April 28th this year’s Campus Relay was on. The sun was shining and the 1.2 km route round campus was covered in blue CBS Sport balloons. Over 200 runners were ready to compete to be the fastest to cover the 4×2.4km. See the awesome pictures of the teams in cool outfits and the great weather here.
The unforgettable Cup Match
CBS Sport Football did take some great leaps in 2013 and 2014. Among others, two volunteers were given a coach education and the men’s team did great in the Danish Cup.
After a “cup slaughter” against Copenhagen Zebras, CBS Sport was ready for the the 2nd round of DBU Pokalen.
There was riveting entertainment and a rite of passage as CBS Sport Football took on Frederiksberg Boldklub (FB) in the 2nd round of the Danish Cup.
It was the up-and-coming against the establishment, a 7-year old student club against one of the largest and most prestigious clubs in Denmark with over 100 years of history. Without revealing too much, the FB fans were not satisfied with their team’s performance.. Pictures from the day here.

As June approached and CBS Sport Summer Party was near, a sum up of the first half year’s results comes here:
CBS Sport Football’s highest ranked men’s team followed their tremendous cup match with a deserved promotion to Serie 2.
CBS Sport Handball’s women won their cup match against Gentofte-Vangede HK
CBS Sport Rugby’s ladies got themselves in the Danish free paper metroxpress
CBS Sport Handball’s women’s team got their promotion to Kvalifikationsrækken and Serie 2.
CBS Sport Rugby got their first national team player, as Marianne went to the European Championship in 7s rugby in Bergen, Norway.

All the great results were celebrated at the CBS Sport Summer Party, where Handball’s players of the year were awarded and former board member Christoffer Larsen was awarded Honored Member.
The fall
CBS Sport welcomed all new students at the introduction programmes and followed up with a CBS Sport Day on the 9th of September and CBS Society Day on September 18th. The fall also started with good news, as we in October, were glad to announce that CBS Sport had extended the cooperation with the local department Danske Bank on Peter Bangsvej 60, 2000 Frederiksberg to the Spring 2015.
Two great fall events
The fall also brought two big CBS Sport events. On the 19th of September, CBS Sport Street Football 2014 took place and the pictures from the sunny day can be seen here. True to tradition CBS Sport Challenge was held on the first Friday of October. Just like CBS Sport Dodgeball 2014, the sponsor E.ON was up for a show match against CBS Sport Board.. Unfortunately E.ON is still the unbeaten champion of these show matches, as E.ON took down CBS Sport in a match of volleyball.. Great results in the fall
Funny moments from CBS Sport Basketball
Again leading up to one of the two legendary CBS Sport parties, a sum up of results are always nice:
- CBS Sport Basketball’s still quite new women’s team, took their first victory in the fall and have only lost one match since. One of the players have been good at posting videos from their matches and other golden moments. Find them here.
- CBS Sport Football’s two team’s in Serie 4 both got their promotion to Serie 3, and that even on the same day.
While the boys celebrated their promotions, CBS Sport Football’s ladies’ 7-a-side team managed to become number one and also earn promotion! Read about all three football promotions here. - CBS Sport Handball’s men’s team also managed to get good results, especially as their coaching staff is now in place.
- CBS Sport Basketball’s highest ranked men’s team made it to the promotions games to 2st Division, but unfortunately didn’t make it. As mentioned before CBS Sport Football has done some leaps, and their new council and 2016 strategy was certainly a sign hereof.
- CBS Sport Handball’s ladies won the DTH Cup.
- CBS Sport Volleyball made it to the final in the SVBK Tournament in November.
It was all celebrated at the CBS Sport Christmas Party, where the Volunteer of the Year award was given to Cecilie Rasmussen and the bar was emptied!
Other big news
CBS Sport has done it before, but in 2014 it was made possible to buy CBS Sport Merchandice at the Webshop. 2014 was also the year were we started a series of “Volunteers are awesome!” – first one up was Preben. CBS Sport Badminton is not participating in regular tournaments (although rumour has it, that they participated in a weekend tournament this fall), but they sure know how to party!
Finally CBS Sport has gotten better and better relations with the spors clubs in the neighbourhood as both KIF Kolding København, FCK and Brøndby has invited our members to see matches for free – they know that we always deliver good cheering.
What next..
Our sports are going on a well-deserved vacation, and will be back in full speed in 2015.
