Sports Pool: Two first rugby tournaments of the year

With funding from the Sports Pool CBS Sport Rugby’s ladies travelled to tournaments in Grenå and Odense.

Grenå

The girls travelled to Grenå for their first tournament on the 9th of April, to take on Grenå, CSR and Speed in their pool where they won one and lost two. This meant that they ad to fight Odense the 5th place, which they managed to pull through. It was a very long and tough day for the team, that weren’t used to playing four matches at a tournament. But what a thrill to get the 5th place!

Odense

After the results from the first tournament, the girls were really pumped for the second tournament to improve their game. The 30th of April they travelled to Odense and played the tournament hosts in the first match of the day. It was a very hard and tight game, but the CBS Sport Rugby Ladies secured a win.

Next up was Speed, last year’s champions. CBS Sport Rugby Ladies had improved their game since the first tournament but it still wasn’t enough unfortunately.

The final match for the team was against Exiles for the 3rd place. The rugby ladies didn’t manage to beat Exiles in any of their matches last season, so the girls were very eager to win. It was a very tight and tough match, but the girls played with everything they had for the last match of the day and won 22-5!

Finishing 3rd in the tournament was a great achievement for CBS Sport Rugby Ladies, who only managed to get 3rd place once last year. The team hope to get 3rd place (or better!, red.) a few more times this season!

The girls celebrated their great performance with a beer sponsored by their coach at the Irish pub, Kennedy’s, after getting back to Copenhagen. The team would like to thank CBS Sport and the Sports Pool for helping covering their expenses to these faraway tournament this semester. The girls are now preparing for their third tournament on Amager the 21st of May.

Best regards,
