Shotokan Karate

About

WHAT IS CBS SPORT KARATE SHOTOKAN?

Shotokan Karate at CBS aims to follow an age-old tradition of Japanese Universities where Martial Arts are practiced alongside the academic curriculum. It is an activity aimed at students and employees at CBS that wish to combine the challenge of academic life with the strenuous physical training of karate. The combination of the two aspects – forging mind and body into one balanced unity also offers practitioners a surplus of energy, inner calmness and mental balance.

The students so far have been a mixture of Danes, Germans, French and other international students from the student body. Students from other universities are also very welcome.

FAQ

You can come in your gym gear and with bare feet. After a period of trying out you will need to acquire a ‘gi‘ the customary attire for practicing martial arts. It is all white and can be purchased many places but ask and we‘ll be happy to assist you.

You can and will miss training sessions. It only means it will take you longer to acquire the level of skills that the various techniques require. It is not a problem – its called ‘life‘.

Usually about 3 years of regular training i.e. 3 times a week and anyone can do it. It only requires tenacious discipline, which is very thing you learn in karate.
